         Most of you that visit this site know that we left the farm in Cortland, NY, to try our luck at Skaneateles's World Class Equestrian Facility, Claire Affleck Training.  Unfortunately, it's hard to go from a place where you are the sole proprietor of a quiet, private farm to a place where there is much more exposure with closer quarters and are sharing less land.  And....as we all know, I have too many horses!!!  We all had hoped it would work, but sadly, the parties involved have different goals and expectations.  I truly wish the best for all at SEC.

     Stoney Hill Stable is a small, private farm formerly located in Cortland, now based out of  Clair Affleck Training, in Auburn NY. We offer a variety of talented, versatile prospects that will become successful competitive partners as well as life-long friends. Our farm is run as a "working-hobby" and our horses are treated as family. Our prospects are NOT rescues and are chosen for an intelligent, soft eye, a kind and willing temperament, athletic ability, and conformation.  We encourage them to excel in the discipline they show the most talent for.

    Over the years, I have found a weakness for thoroughbreds with a recent branch into WarmBlood/TB crosses. I have no preference of raced to unraced.  Some of the best competitors/show horses have been off-the track.  Those that are OTT are evaluated and given the proper down-time where they can become a horse again. We spend a considerable amount of time getting to know them, so we can give you the most accurate assessment of their temperament, safety and soundness. We have a wonderful group of well-mannered and personable animals who will be great long-term friends, as well as successful show horses.

We encourage you to come visit and try out all of our prospects. Should you like one of our horses, we do offer trials on a limited basis, subject to the terms listed to the left.

Stoney Hill Stable established it's name from it's former location in Cortland, NY.  Esentially, we lived on a huge, hill right behind Greek Peak Ski Resort.  We endured our fair share of harsh weather and unbareable wind.  The terain was somewhat rough with a shale base.  However, the scenery during the summer and fall months was spectacular. For years, we debated wether to stay or leave.  Circumstances finally prompted us to move to a more user friendly environment.  It seems as though it took us months to complete our move to Auburn.  We still are not quite settled, and there is still a lot of work to do.  But, we are getting there, slowly.  Now, we are based out of Skaneatles Equestrian Center, owned by Claire Affleck.  We are just minutes away from scenic Skaneatles Lake.  The town boasts quaint shops, superb resteraunts, and and overall festive atmosphere.
